Leone
Cei, the founder of our company, was an extraordinary man. Like the
great masters of the past, he learnt how to carve as an apprentice
and, while still very young, moved to London to perfect his skills.
In a short time he was able to open a small workshop in Chelsea, where
he became famous in high society for his professionalism and skill.
On his return to Italy, he opened his own workshop in Florence, the
city of his birth and, his company has been doing business there ever
since. The third generation of the family Cei is still working in
the same time honoured tradition of specialist knowledge and experience.
Leone Cei & Sons, specialises in mirrors, wall sconces, consoles,
chairs and armchairs reproduced from the 17th, 18th and 19th century
originals. All the items are produced entirely in Florence at the
workshop Leone Cei established in 1902 and the care taken in their
manufacture guarantees the highest quality.
The furniture is produced by highly skilled and specialised staff
using the best materials. All is still carved by hand in solid wood,
in the oldest Florentine tradition.
The gilt used comes from 24 kt. genuine gold leaf, the silvering from
1000/1000 silver leaf, and both are burnished with agate stone. As
well as this, the lacquering is still made from natural materials,
as in the past.
